Junior Cross-Country Race Day:
This was most anticipated by our competitive lot of runners.
Many took part in the early morning before-school practice sessions with senior school students!
Students ran in year levels after completing warm-up stretches and finished with some fun 'wind down' activities. For some, the highlight was just wearing their whanau t-shirts!
N.B. for our overseas followers... and there are now a lot of you...
'whanau' is Maori for 'family' and it is our house system with students from every year level and
Year 6 Whanau Leaders chosen and voted by teachers and peers. [pronounced Far-no although some still incorrectly say Far-now!]]

Can you read "5 year old"???
Here are Mia's rules for good Zoo Trip Behaviour!!
We learn to write by saying the word out loud, listening to the sounds and writing them down.
Some good rules, Mia.
Translation for those who can not read "Five year Old" !!
"Don't put your fingers in the cages.
Don't be silly at the zoo, act nicely.
Do not run away from the parent.
Be nice and safe.
Hold your parent's hand.
Do not go and play - only if your parent says."

Future 'X Factor" contestants!
Room 7 students are enjoying increasing their public performance confidence by singing into a microphone attached to a PA system in the class.
Islay-Karyn started the idea by receiving two trophies this week at the Auckland Country Music Awards in the city.
She sang "Train whistle blowing ...." and then that inspired others to have a go.
